Here comes another one-off from Ferrari. They don’t come that often, but anytime one shows up, it’s usually drool-worthy.
The HC25 is a roadster created through the Maranello marque’s Special Projects program. Announced during the Ferrari Racing Days at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin (COTA), Texas, the HC25 is based on the architecture of the F8 Spider and presents a fresh interpretation of Ferrari’s mid-rear-engined V8 spider.
In terms of aesthetics, the F8 isn’t our favorite past Ferrari V8 spider (that honor goes to the 488 spider). However, it is a pretty capable offering out of Maranello, and the owner of the HC25 probably had good reasons for selecting that platform over the more recent ones.
The Ferrari Design Studio developed the project under the direction of ace car designer Flavio Manzoni. Ferrari describes the car as a pure and uncompromising roadster, designed to serve as a bridge between the F8 Spider’s underlying architecture and the design language of more recent Ferrari models. The result is a car that honors a celebrated mechanical layout while looking forward.
Under the hood, you have a turbo-charged V8 with maximum power of 720cv (approx 710bhp) at 7000 rpm, and max torque of 77Nm at 3250 rpm. A 7-speed dual-clutch F1 gearbox handles transmission duties. 0-100km/s time is quoted at 2.9 seconds, and 0-200km/h at 8.2 seconds.
The car has a unique bodywork, so you’re not likely to mistake it for an F8. It’s finished in nice looking (at least from the photos) silver hue. The car features a more sculptural, contemporary exterior, with proportions and surfacing intended to give it a more futuristic character.
A central glossy black band is one of the defining visual elements, running through the car and helping separate the body into distinct sections. Subtle yellow accents like the prancing horse badge on the doors and the brake calipers quietly elevate the appeal of the car.
The front end introduces a new headlight treatment for Ferrari. Slim lighting elements and vertically arranged daytime running lights create a distinctive signature, while the body’s clean surfaces reduce visual complexity. Along the sides, the design continues the same balance of elegance and function, with details shaped to emphasize the roadster’s low stance.
Ferrari’s Special Projects program is built around close collaboration with individual clients. Previous projects include the KC23, SP-8, Omologata, SP51, and the SP48 Unica. The HC25 reflects that signature bespoke approach. If you’ve been following these one-offs, you can’t help but notice the similarities between the HC25 and the SP-8 and KC23.
Rather than modifying a production car with cosmetic changes alone, Ferrari created a singular body and identity around an existing platform, transforming the F8 Spider’s architecture into something unique.
The HC25 also carries symbolic weight within Ferrari’s road-car story. By drawing from the F8 Spider while adopting a more contemporary design philosophy, it connects one era of Ferrari’s mid-rear V8 spiders with the marque’s evolving aesthetic direction. That translates to a one-of-a-kind car that the fortunate owner can be proud of.
