We all know that high-performance cars are not sought after for transportation. In fact, you can’t claim the purchase is for the performance unless you take it to the racetrack at frequent intervals, or you want to get a ticket every time you drive the car. For most people, it’s about an emotional connection between man and machine.
Marques also share this emotion with their buyers, and perhaps that’s why Maserati chose to celebrate the return of the Granturismo and GranCabrio to Modena in a special way. Maserati turned its home city of Modena into the stage for “Maserati Meccanica Lirica” to celebrate the event.
Taking the spotlight are two Fuoriserie creations - the GranTurismo Meccanica Lirica and the GranCabrio Meccanica Lirica. Both are one-offs revealed during 5 days of events from the 5th to 9th of November.

The festivities opened at Modena’s Teatro Comunale Pavarotti-Freni with an evening created with high-end audio partner Sonus Faber. Inside the theater, the story of Puccini’s Turandot was interwoven with that of the Trident as the Modena Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Hirofumi Yoshida, performed arias with the GranTurismo Meccanica Lirica on stage.
A performance by composer Dario Faini (aka Dardust), blending classical and electronic influences, accompanied the premiere of a new video campaign filmed for the cars in and around Modena. Afterwards, guests attended a gala dinner in the foyer, featuring culinary delights by the acclaimed chef Massimo Bottura (owner of the Michelin-starred Osteria Francescana in Modena).
Other events during the week included Maserati’s inauguration of the new GranTurismo and GranCabrio assembly line and the official revelation of both one-off cars.

Guests toured the factory and the Collezione Maserati Umberto Panini before Maserati Club Italia members arrived for a weekend of brand experiences: a display in Piazza Roma, visits to the theater and the plant, and a special performance by Roberto Bolle.
The celebrations ended with a gala evening, an immersive sound installation, and a Sunday finale of Maserati parades through Modena and track sessions in the MC20 and GT2 Stradale at the Autodromo di Modena.
Meanwhile, Modena itself became “Città di Maserati”. Billboards, panels, and installations bearing the new slogan appeared across town, while the Albinelli Market and the Portico del Collegio were dressed in Trident colors and transformed into urban galleries.

The two Meccanica Lirica One-Offs translate this dialogue between mechanics and music into form and color. For the GranTurismo, we have Rosso Velluto, a deep multilayer red inspired by theater velvet, while the GranCabrio comes in Oro Lirico, a champagne tone with warm, iridescent reflections.
Exclusive 21-inch black CRIO wheels with pale-gold diamond-cut detailing, gold Tridents on the grilles and pillars, and contrasting White Gold Matte or Rosso Velluto Matte badging complete the bespoke exterior.
Inside, the cars boast of a cabin that pairs bespoke burgundy leather with Nude Alcantara, recalling the shades and softness of a grand theater seat. Bordeaux stitching, gold-finished chrome and trim, including Sonus faber speaker grilles and red poplar wood accents, reference Modena’s musical heritage.

Each car bears an exclusive “Creata a Modena” badge and comes with a tailor-made fine-wool cover patterned with Maserati Trident motifs, where the same inscription replaces “Fuoriserie” on the rear plate.
In case you’re wondering, Maserati was conspicuously silent about the car’s owners in the press release. They’re likely destined for display only unless someone can make the marque an offer they can’t refuse.
