If you don't know the name Pininfarina, let's get you up to speed. The original Pininfarina company (Pininfarina SPA) is a design house that worked on icons like the Ferrari Enzo and the Maserati Quattroporte, with decorated designers like Ken Okuyama as one of its creative directors in the past.
In 2015, after the Mahindra Group purchased Pininfarina SPA, the acquisition allowed them to use the name in the EV hypercar company Automobili Pininfarina. The carmaker showcased the first version of the Battista during the 2019 Geneva Auto Show. Naturally, the car company maintained its link to the design company and celebrates that pedigree every chance it gets.
Now that we're all caught up on the history, hopefully, the 95th anniversary Automobili Pininfarina is celebrating makes more sense. The EV carmaker is celebrating the milestone and moving on from the Battista (a unique set of EV hypercars going against offerings from fellow EV makers like Rimac) with the announcement of the Battista Novantacinque.
The car was on display at the Museo Nazionale dell'Automobile di Torino (MAUTO) in Turin, Italy (the birthplace of Pininfarina) from the 22nd -24th of May. During the special exhibition, attendees could appreciate the artistry that went into the building of the car.
The exterior finish of the Novantacinque is a dramatic expression of Italian passion and craftsmanship. It features Exposed Signature Carbon Tinted Rosso Gloss, a deep red hue symbolizing speed, emotion, and heritage.
This is paired with a bespoke livery that includes PURA Vision Gold Paint Gloss and Nero Torino Gloss accents, all underscored by a distinctive gold pinstripe from the Furiosa Pack. The commemorative script "Novantacinque" is inscribed on the rear wing to affirm its one-of-a-kind status.
Further elevating its visual presence are Iconico wheels in 'Precision Polished Colourless' with Black Channel Matt detailing, black brake calipers, and brushed aluminum anodized accents. Together, these elements bring depth and contrast to the vehicle's sculptural, carbon-fiber silhouette.
Inside the cabin, the celebration of craftsmanship continues with Pilota seats upholstered in Black Leather and Alcantara, detailed with duotone stitching in Black and Gold to echo the car's livery. Knee pads finished in Black Alcantara are embroidered with a gold "95" logo, while the chassis plate and door plates feature a unique celebratory design.
The cockpit is finished with Exposed Signature Carbon Satin, refined aluminum components anodized in Gold and Black, and newly designed aluminum rotary controls crafted exclusively for this edition.
The car shares its performance numbers with other Battista models. The electric powerhouse, featuring 1,900 hp and 2,340 Nm of torque, allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.86 seconds and from 0 to 300 km/h in 10.49 seconds. Its 120 kWh T-shaped lithium-ion battery supports a range of up to 476 km (WLTP).
The Battista Novantacinque is the final bespoke commission in the exclusive Battista family and represents a closing chapter for the model. With its creation, Automobili Pininfarina celebrates 95 years of heritage and its future as a manufacturer of highly personalized, design-led electric performance hypercars. It's exciting to anticipate the storied brand's next iconic design.
