September and October have six of the best yachting gatherings enthusiasts shouldn't miss. From the glitz of Monaco and Cannes to the sun-soaked waters of Ibiza and Saint-Tropez, everyone who loves yachts should consider visiting at least two of these events. Whether you're in search of your next yacht, chasing regatta glory, or simply seeking to enjoy sea breezes, the events deliver style, comfort, and an opportunity to mingle with like-minded attendees.
1. Rolex Maxi Cup (Sept 7–13, Porto Cervo)
Following a tradition that started in 1980, the Maxi Cup is one of the highlights of the Mediterranean yachting season. Hosted in Sardinia's Porto Cervo, it is the brainchild of Costa Smeralda Yacht Club.
The event attracts a large fleet of maxi yachts to Porto Cervo every fall, but no one needs an excuse to visit Sardinia's most prestigious town. As you would expect, there's no shortage of after parties that make the most of the clement Mediterranean weather.
2. Cannes Yachting Festival (Sept 9–14, Vieux Port & Port Canto)
Cannes Yachting Festival brings together about 700 vessels, from tenders to towering superyachts. It attracts around 55,000 visitors each year. The in-water display also features a luxury 'Tenders & Toys' zone with everything from jet-skis to submersibles, and sea trials set against a Riviera playground backdrop.
In between shuttling from one port to the other, guests can enjoy easy access to the boutiques, iconic 5-star hotels, and Michelin-starred dining on Boulevard de la Croisette. The show's ambiance is tailored for discerning seafarers and first-time buyers alike.
3. Ibiza JoySail (Sept 18–21, Marina Ibiza & Formentera)
The invitation-only Ibiza JoySail, now in its 5th year, combines spirited daytime races around Ibiza and Formentera with evening soirees-embodying the island's bohemian-chic flair.
Beyond the regatta, the event showcases Ibiza's unique blend of party culture and luxury hospitality. Participants and spectators are treated to DJ-led beach dinners, wellness mornings, and curated island experiences that capture the spirit of modern yachting.
4. Monaco Yacht Show (Sept 24–27, Port Hercule)
The Monaco Yacht Show is the epicenter of luxury yachting each September. It showcases over 120 superyachts and nearly 560 exhibitors in an event that's considered to be the best of its kind on the planet. Held in the iconic Port Hercule, the show combines opulence with innovation, featuring cutting-edge technology, eco-initiatives, and exclusive yacht matchmaking opportunities.
In 2024, Maserati was at the show for the first time, showcasing the iconic Tridente electric boat, while Gulf Craft introduced the Majesty 100 Terrace in concept form, and Feadship talked about its compelling C Concept Yacht. Beyond the docks, Monaco becomes a hub of elite gatherings, with exclusive yacht parties, private previews, and networking among the world's top brokers, designers, and shipyards.
5. Les Voiles de Saint Tropez (Sept 28–Oct 6, Baie de Pampelonne)
A pinnacle of Mediterranean regatta culture, this vibrant week celebrates elegant performance sailing. Classic yachts and modern racers converge in a parade, followed by spirited races off Saint Tropez's golden coast. After sunlit competition, expect convivial evenings ashore with live music, gourmet pop-ups, and inviting Riviera energy.
Les Voiles is also a celebration of maritime heritage, as it attracts historic vessels such as the 1930s-era schooners and 12-meter America's Cup yachts. The combination of tradition and contemporary craftsmanship draws yacht lovers from all over the globe.
6. Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) (Oct 29–Nov 2, Florida)
The world's largest in-water boat show takes over Florida's waterways for five sun-soaked days. Spanning marinas, a convention center, and yacht clubs, FLIBS covers everything from mega-yachts to fishing skiffs, premiering new builds and showcasing luxury lifestyle trends.
Visitors can also enjoy VIP experiences, including Windward Club access, culinary demonstrations, and waterside hospitality lounges.
