Tranquility Bed

If you’ve been traveling on yachts for a while, you’ll know that up until recently, the beds don't appear to get much attention from yacht builders. They don’t come close to the comfort you’re used to at home. While not terrible, they don’t exactly invite you the way the furniture in the salon does.

Two titans of luxury craftsmanship - Savoir and Winch Design - have joined forces to change all that with the creation of a show-stopping new piece of furniture: the Tranquility bed.

The collaboration brings together Savoir’s century-old tradition of bespoke bedmaking and Winch Design’s globally respected design acumen, long admired in the world of superyachts, private jets, and luxury residences. The result is a bed that merges timeless aesthetics with peerless comfort.

Savoir

If you're not familiar with the Savoir brand, you should note that it's been in the business of bed-making since 1905. It first built beds for the Savoy Hotel, one of London's most iconic hotels where celebrated names like Winston Churchill and Giacomo Puccini have enjoyed the comfort of some of the best beds in the world.

Designed by Michael Noah, Furniture Designer and Associate at Winch Design, the Tranquility bed is inspired by the glamour and romance of 1930s ocean liners. It captures the sweeping curves and graceful lines found in classic yacht interiors while a serene, neutral color palette echoes the calm of open waters and sun-drenched decks.

Blending heritage and innovation, the Tranquility bed reimagines the classic sleigh bed with cleaner lines, refined curves, and a bold and understated silhouette. Upholstered in buttery-soft leather by Foglizzo, the bed is detailed with saddle stitching that showcases Savoir’s expertise in hand craftsmanship.

The leather is complemented by a figured anegre timber trim, creating a rich and tactile contrast. It comes as no surprise that the bespoke Winch mattress, Savoir’s iconic No. 4 spring base, and the hair and wool topper are all handcrafted in Savoir’s Bedworks in Wales using the highest quality materials.

Enhancing the bed’s appeal are integrated reading lights in golden bronze by British lighting design company Chelsom and coordinating nightstands designed to recall the refined details of classic transatlantic staterooms. These accessories complete the feeling of retreat and sophistication, making the bed not just an object to enhance good sleep but a space of calm reflection and restorative rest.

Each Tranquility bed is made to order, offering full customization from leather finishes to trim materials and bed sizes. That flexibility should come in handy for your next superyacht build. The process takes 12 to 14 weeks, reflecting the meticulous attention to detail at the heart of both Savoir and Winch’s philosophies.

The bed is on display at Savoir’s flagship showroom in Mayfair, London, and is available for purchase through any Savoir showroom worldwide. Prices start at $68,605 for a US King, with matching nightstands priced at $21,885 each.

Savoir co-owner Alistair Hughes expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are delighted to be working with Winch on this collaborative bed design. The attention to detail that goes into every one of their projects is second to none, and it can be showcased perfectly through the craftsmanship at Savoir.”

With its seamless blend of artistry, heritage, and innovation, the Tranquility bed is a luxurious celebration of design prowess - a fitting tribute to Savoir’s legacy and Winch Design’s vision. There’s a chance a bed like this will make you forget that you’re at sea. And there's no reason to limit the bed to your yacht. It works perfectly well at home too.
