The Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear

Koenigsegg fans have something new to get excited about. The Swedish hypercar maker has unveiled its latest creation. Its name? The Sadair's Spear, a track-obsessed evolution of the Jesko, is a road-legal car optimized for ultimate circuit performance. Like other cars by the marque, it combines raw power with aerodynamic precision.

A Legacy in Motion

Like the Jesko before it, the name Sadair's Spear is linked to the founder Christian von Koenigsegg's father, who was a jockey up until 1976. Sadair's Spear was the name of the horse ridden by Jesko von Koenigsegg in his last race. The car represents the culmination of that legacy, a hypercar as uncompromising and passionate as its namesake.

Advanced Aerodynamics

There's a significant emphasis on aerodynamics all around the new car. An active, dual-blade rear wing, extended rear tail, larger canards, underfloor strakes, wheel-arch louvres, and a sculpted front hood provide exceptional downforce.

The aerodynamic features deliver a balance between front and rear, tuned for stability, precision, and efficiency. Notably, design elements such as a Gurney flap on the front cooling vent improve both engine cooling and frontal downforce.

Engine, Transmission, and Weight Optimization

Under the hood, the car features a twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 engine, enhanced through redesigned intakes, refined mapping, and cooling system improvements. The result is 1,300 horsepower on regular fuel, with a boost to 1,625 horsepower when the fuel is replaced with E85.

All that power is delivered to the rear wheels through the company's proprietary Light Speed Transmission (LST), a nine-speed multi-clutch system that provides difficult to match fast gear changes. The LST system delivers seamless acceleration and optimal torque delivery.

In addition to the increased power, Koenigsegg engineers reduced the car's weight by 35 kilograms compared to its predecessor. This was achieved through the use of lighter springs, a more focused suspension setup, reduced insulation, and weight-saving interior features, including carbon-fiber racing seats.

Track-Focused, Yet Road-Ready

While designed for the track, Sadair's Spear is still road-legal and driver-friendly. And don't let that feature fool you into thinking the car is as stripped down as what you'd expect in a typical race car.

While the interior is minimal, it is still well-appointed; features include Koenigsegg's SmartCenter infotainment display, SmartCluster driver interface, wireless charging, USB ports, and electric Autoskin opening functionality. Also present are a pair of redesigned carbon fiber seats. In addition, optional six-point harnesses and bespoke trim allow for individual customization.

Record-Breaking Potential

Given the aero updates and other enhancements, it's no surprise that the press release stated that Sadair's Spear lapped Sweden's Gotland Ring 1.1 seconds faster than the Jesko Attack. Although its top speed is slightly lower than the Jesko Absolut, the Spear's setup prioritizes cornering speed and dynamic response.

Exclusivity

The company only plans to make 30 examples, and it shouldn't surprise anyone that they're all spoken for. Each unit features a curb weight of 1,385 kilograms, carbon-ceramic brakes, adjustable ride height, and Michelin Cup 2 or Cup 2R tires.

In essence, Sadair's Spear is the most focused expression of Koenigsegg's race-bred performance ethos. Combining stunning design, technical sophistication, and extreme rarity that's commonplace in the hypercar market.
