If you’re a Ferrari fan and you still haven’t made up your mind on attending Monterey Car Week this year, perhaps this will tip the scales, especially if you’ve been trying to get your hands on a Daytona SP3.
Ferrari has unveiled a singular creation set to take center stage at the upcoming Monterey Car Week: a bespoke Daytona SP3, crafted through the brand’s tailor-made personalization program. It is set to be auctioned by RM Sotheby’s.
Bearing the chassis number 599+1, this unique model transcends its limited-edition lineage, joining Ferrari’s celebrated Icona series as a philanthropic statement and a bold embodiment of racing heritage, innovation, and Italian craftsmanship.
For emphasis, anyone making the assumption that Ferrari is sneaking in one more model of the Daytona for profit should note that all proceeds from the sale of the car will be donated by the Italian Marque.
The most striking thing about the car is the stunning two-tone carbon-fiber finish in gloss black paired with Giallo Modena - a vibrant shade of yellow synonymous with Ferrari’s identity (after all, there’s nothing better than a yellow Ferrari).
The upper body is emblazoned with the Ferrari logotype in full, marking a first for the brand. A gloss black finish adorns the front splitter, side sills, and rear diffuser.
The bespoke nature of this SP3 is echoed inside, where the cabin features upholstery made from an innovative fabric derived from recycled tires.
This sustainable material is decorated with a Prancing Horse motif, underscoring Ferrari’s ability to blend environmental consciousness with artistic detail (never mind the gas guzzling V12 engine). Additionally, the dashboard and steering column are fashioned from the same carbon fiber used in Ferrari's Formula 1 race cars.
The car’s mechanical credentials, while not departing from the ‘regular’ Daytona are equally compelling. Beneath its flowing, sculptural panels lies a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine, the most powerful internal combustion unit ever installed in a road-going Ferrari. Delivering 840 cv, the Daytona SP3 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.85 seconds and reaches 200 km/h in 7.4 seconds.
As the second entry in the ultra-limited Icona series following the Monza SP1 and SP2 (the windshield-less pair), the Daytona SP3 continues the tradition of reinterpreting past glories through a modern lens. The Icona concept, launched in 2018, doesn't simply replicate design cues of past models; it captures the spirit of entire eras in motorsport and channels them into new forms.
Each Icona vehicle is built with exclusive technology and design features not seen elsewhere in the Ferrari lineup, intended solely for the brand’s most devoted clientele and collectors. In this sense, the 599+1 Daytona SP3 stands as a collector’s dream and a future-forward homage to Ferrari’s golden age of racing.
While all 599 original SP3 units have already been sold, this additional model is offered with a singular mission: to support global educational initiatives through the Ferrari Foundation.
Proceeds from the auction will go entirely toward philanthropic projects. A recent collaboration between the Ferrari Foundation and Save the Children helped rebuild the fire-damaged Aveson Charter School in California.
