PENT.

If you read our article about PENT. (yes the period is part of the name), you're likely wondering about the backstory of the company and its unique products. We were curious too, so we got a Q&A session with the company’s founder, Marcin Raczek, to better understand the motivation and philosophy behind their fitness equipment. Needless to say, we got some inspiring answers that make PENT. products even more intriguing.

PENT. sits at the intersection of fitness, design, and luxury. When you founded the company, what gap did you see in the fitness market?

I began by outfitting professional gyms and saw a clear disconnect. Clients with refined interiors did not want industrial machines disrupting their homes, yachts, or boutique hotels. They wanted equipment that performed at a professional level and belonged aesthetically beside art, architecture, and bespoke furnishings. The gap was not a function, but a feeling, and PENT. was created to merge sculptural beauty with high performance so wellness objects could enhance the spaces they live in.

Your products use materials like fine wood, leather, and choice metals typically seen in luxury interiors, not gyms. How do you balance aesthetics with durability and performance?

For us, aesthetics and performance are the same pursuit. Solid American walnut, hand-stitched natural leather sourced from Italy and Portugal, and marine-grade stainless steel are chosen not only for their visual refinement but also for their inherent strength, tactile appeal, and durability. These materials do not need to be engineered into beauty or durability. They are already both. Our role is to shape them in a way that honors their integrity, resulting in equipment that performs as professional gear while living in a room like functional art.

PENT. creates fitness equipment for homes, hotels, and yachts. What have you learned about what’s desirable in each of these categories?

In private homes, people want pieces that feel personal and integrated into their rituals. In hotels, equipment must be highly durable, intuitive for a range of users, and aligned with the property's design standards so it feels cohesive, not secondary. On yachts, corrosion resistance and material performance matter most, and every object must justify its footprint both visually and functionally. Across all environments, the desire is the same: high performance with visual integrity.

Many luxury brands talk about “craftsmanship,” but unlike PENT., it’s not always apparent. Can you walk us through the making of a single PENT. product - from concept to completion - and where the human touch matters most in the process?

Each product begins as a sketch, engineered for balance and movement, then carefully brought to life in our workshop. A single artisan often builds one piece from beginning to end, dedicating an entire day to polishing a single dumbbell, ensuring every surface achieves absolute precision. There is no conventional assembly line here.

The human hand shapes every contour, smooths every edge, and guides each piece into being, and I personally inspect every product before it leaves our workshop. We honor where we come from by naming certain pieces after villages around our hometown, embedding our origins directly into the product itself. This is craftsmanship made visible, felt in use, and built to last for generations, which, to us, is the most responsible and enduring form of sustainability.

What role do digital marketing and e-commerce play in your growth strategy?

Digital marketing and e-commerce play a foundational role in our growth by allowing us to communicate our philosophy to a global audience. They enable clients to discover our atelier, understand our materials and process, and begin a dialogue with our design team from anywhere in the world. We use digital tools with the intention not to replace the human experience, but to open the door to it. From there, each piece moves through a disciplined, hands-on production process. Digital marketing is how the conversation begins. Craftsmanship follows, one piece at a time.

Why did you choose to include audio products in your line?

Wellness is multisensory. Movement strengthens the body, but sound shapes presence, focus, and feeling. PENT. Audio was created to make ritual immersive, allowing music to energize or soften the atmosphere just as physical equipment supports the body. It completes the environment, so training becomes an experience rather than a task.

PENT.'s equipment is made to order and often customized to a specific home, yacht, or hotel project. How do you manage offering bespoke pieces while maintaining a coherent design language and production process?

We customize within a defined design language that protects the essence of PENT., much like tailoring. Finishes and detail may shift to suit a client’s space, but the craftsmanship, silhouette, and presence remain unmistakably ours. Each piece reflects the individuality of its owner while still belonging to a cohesive lineage, so even the most bespoke commission feels like part of the same family. The result is personal expression without loss of identity, and a level of quality that remains constant from one project to the next.

What trend(s) in the wellness industry excite you the most?

The most exciting shift is that people are no longer approaching wellness as an obligation but as something to design into their daily life. They want environments that restore as much as they strengthen, and objects built to last for decades rather than seasons. The future lies in intentional wellness ecosystems, and that is the space where PENT. thrives naturally.
