The AMG CLE Coupe blends the best of the C and E-Class models

Mercedes-AMG’s latest luxury coupe has once again set the benchmark for machines of its kind. The new AMG CLE 53 is a stunning blend of agility, elegance, and advanced technology, harmonizing the athleticism of the AMG C-Class with the spacious elegance of the E-Class.
Engine and Performance
At the heart of the CLE 53 is an AMG-enhanced 3.0-liter inline-six engine, which delivers an impressive 443 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque. With an exhaust gas turbocharger and an electric auxiliary compressor enhanced by a 48-volt integrated starter generator, this powertrain doesn’t just provide a performance boost – it also supports lower engine speeds with an additional 23 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque. The CLE 53’s engine also features optimized combustion chambers and piston rings, redesigned inlet and outlet channels, and improved injection.

That’s not all, though. The CLE 53 comes equipped with an AMG Speedshift TCT 9G transmission, ensuring rapid gear changes and enhancing the car’s dynamic responsiveness. It also features five AMG Dynamic Select drive programs – “Slippery,” “Comfort,” “Sport,” “Sport+,” and “Individual” – allowing you to personalize the engine, transmissions, suspension, and steering to your taste. With “Basic,” “Advanced,” and “Pro” levels for the Electronic Stability Program and the AMG Performance 4Matic+ fully variable all-wheel drive system, you’ll be certain to find your sweet spot.
Exterior Design
The exterior of the CLE 53 is a statement of strength and elegance. Its long hood, sloping roofline, and muscular rear end create a striking and assertive profile. This is complemented by the AMG-specific grille, LED headlights, and seamlessly integrated flared front and rear fenders – all of which further underline the car’s sporty character. The car’s distinctive front fascia features a raised A-shape design, with large air inlets to enhance airflow.

The CLE 53 is equipped with 19-inch wheels as standard; however, 20-inch wheels are also available. You can also opt for the AMG Performance Studio Package. This features additional elements on the front and rear fascia and the trunk lid, as well as a rear diffuser board between the tailpipe trims. Additional design options include two AMG Night packages and two AMG Carbon Fiber packages.
Interior Design
When you step inside the CLE 53, you’re immediately greeted with a luxurious and sporty environment. The latest generation MBUX infotainment system features a 12.3-inch digital driver display, an 11.9-inch central display, intuitive controls, and bespoke AMG-specific functions. Dynamic ambient lighting and high-quality materials used throughout the cabin add an interesting touch to the car’s high-performance character.

The CLE 53's standard seats offer excellent lateral support, but there are plenty of additional options for those seeking an even more refined experience. These include Nappa leather upholstery with embossed AMG crests and the AMG Performance Seat package with more pronounced bolsters and improved ventilation. These extras don’t just enhance your comfort – they also add to the car’s luxurious feel, making every drive an event to look forward to.
The CLE 53 artfully combines luxury with performance to deliver a comfortable – yet exhilarating – driving experience. While Mercedes hasn’t yet confirmed pricing details, the model will arrive at US dealers sometime next year.
