McLaren has revealed the W1 as the successor to two of the most iconic supercars ever made. The McLaren F1 and McLaren P1. Representing the pinnacle of McLaren's engineering prowess, the W1 continues the brand's legacy of combining Formula 1™ technology with road-legal innovation.

With its 1,275 PS hybrid powertrain, cutting-edge aerodynamics, and lightweight engineering, the W1 sets a new standard in the hypercar world. Every aspect of the W1's design, from its record-breaking performance to its sophisticated driver-focused ergonomics, has been engineered to provide both exhilarating track experiences and comfortable road driving.

At the core of the W1 is a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine combined with an E-module electric motor that delivers instant throttle response. The V8 alone produces 928 PS (that's 103PS higher than the Senna GTR), the highest output of any McLaren road car. The hybrid system generates 1,275 PS, making it the most powerful McLaren ever produced.

This immense power is transmitted to the rear wheels through an all-new 8-speed transmission. With this powertrain, the W1 can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 2.7 seconds and reach 300 km/h in under 12.7 seconds, with a top speed electronically limited to 350 km/h.

The design philosophy behind the W1 extends beyond raw speed. McLaren engineers incorporated ground-effect aerodynamics, a technology borrowed from their Formula 1 car. The W1's aerodynamics are meant to improve straight-line performance and ensure supreme handling in corners

Its Active Long Tail rear wing can extend up to 300mm to increase downforce. In Race mode, the car lowers by 37mm at the front and 17mm at the rear, enabling a total downforce of 1,000 kg. This allows for high-speed cornering and braking stability.

Despite its track-focused nature, the W1 does not compromise on driver comfort. Its unique McLaren Aerocell carbon-fiber monocoque is designed for strength and weight reduction. It contributes to the car's dry weight of 1,399 kg and provides a power-to-weight ratio of 911 PS per ton.

The cabin has a driver-centric experience with fully integrated fixed seats, a moving pedal box, and a custom steering wheel inspired by Formula 1 technology. The seats are mounted directly into the monocoque to enhance driver connection, and even the smallest details, such as the placement of the A-pillars and sun visors, are designed for optimal visibility and driver engagement.

The W1's development included over 350 hours of wind tunnel testing and thousands of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations, ensuring that every detail, from the front wishbones to the rear diffuser, is aerodynamically optimized. The result is a car that delivers unmatched performance on the track and incredible road usability.

Furthermore, McLaren offers virtually unlimited personalization options through McLaren Special Operations (MSO), allowing customers to create their own unique W1 with customized materials and finishes. From luxurious InnoKnit interiors to advanced Bowers & Wilkins sound systems, the W1 offers the perfect blend of performance and luxury, tailored to the driver's exact specifications.

With a price tag starting at approximately £2 million, the McLaren W1 is not only a technical marvel but also an exclusive one, with only 399 units to be produced, all of which have already been allocated.
