Silverstone Circuit offers driving experiences in different categories. Up until recently, they didn’t have modern supercars, so we weren’t keen on going over there. That was then. Now they have a collection of new Aston Martin Vantage V8s. That was reason enough for us to pack our bags and pay them a visit.

Cars

As far as cars go, you won’t find a huge selection here. They have an open-wheel called Formula Silverstone, Ferrari F430 and BMW M2. They do have other cars for drifting and skid control, but now we’re talking about a different experience. More on those on another day. Their claim to fame is their collection of the current model of the Aston Martin Vantage V8. You’d think Aston Martin was a sponsor as they have a pretty significant number of these.

Customer Care

Given that this is a Grand Prix Circuit, the environment is excellent and relaxing. The staff members are welcoming and helpful. The cafe is also open so one can get refreshments.

Safety

A very detailed safety briefing is given before the driving session and helmets are provided for the track driving experiences.

Race Track

Not a whole lot needs to be said about the race track. It’s Silverstone. Home of the British Grand Prix. For the Vantage V8 experience, you get to drive on the National or International configuration of the circuit. If you’re familiar with Silverstone, you know there are like a million and a half configurations of the track, but the one you drive on still gives you a total track length (8 miles) that is longer than the length offered by the top dogs.

Damage Liability

Full Indemnity is available for an extra 20 pounds. Without it, you’re liable for damages up to ₤10,000. That ₤20 sounds like a no-brainer.

Experience Video

Silverstone makes the video interesting. There are four camera angles, and you’re given software that allows you to configure a combination of different views. While it’s not the most intuitive software, it gets the job done. After configuring your preferred output, you can save it to your hard drive or choose to export it to YouTube or Facebook.

Bottom Line

Petrol heads will always cherish an opportunity to drive at a circuit like Silverstone, and we’re no exception. The Silverstone Circuit experience does most things right and offers video with no branding. However, with the limited variety of cars, it can’t play with the big boys. Having said that, the collection of brand new V8 Vantage cars and the circuit gives it good points, but it just falls short of our editor’s choice award. If you’re an Aston Martin fan, there’s no reason not to come out here.
