Jaguar recently announced the release of its all-electric virtual sports car, the Jaguar Vision GT Gran Turismo Coupe, for the Gran Turismo Sport game. This futuristic car is the latest addition to the carmaker’s Vision GT line-up. The company unveiled the car during the Grand Turismo World Tour event that took place in Tokyo.
The car’s design combines features of the iconic C-type and D-type racecars to create an exciting vision of a futuristic car. The car features three powerful motors that can generate 1020PS and 1200Nm of torque. It accelerates from zero to 100km/h in less than two seconds.
It will be available for download in Gran Turismo Sport for PlayStation 4 consoles at the end of November.
Clear Racing Influence
Jaguar’s racing heritage is clear to see in the Vision GT Coupe. It features an assertive line on the exterior as well as beautifully sculpted fenders that are a nod to the iconic C-type and D-type that won Le-Mans. Additionally, it features some futuristic aerodynamic design. For instance, it uses a deployable active aero wing, which helps it to optimize energy efficiency and generate the right amount of downforce. Its fenders are inspired by the C-type, while the general shape is reminiscent of D-type, also known as ‘Long Nose.’
This virtual EV utilizes experimental lightweight materials. It features a stiff and light monocoque made of carbon fiber composites and advanced aluminum alloys. This ensures the car is quite light; it weighs just 1400 kg, and its weight distribution is 50:50.
This is the first car from the carmaker that is fitted with a Leaper on its front grille. There are numerous other historical references. For instance, there are the twin-charging sockets that flank the rear haunches, which draw their inspiration from the iconic Jaguar 1968 XJ saloon.
The Interior Design
The car’s interior design also incorporates Jaguar’s rich heritage. It incorporates a contemporary design based on the philosophy of purity, progressive luxury, intricate details, and driver focus. The best part about the car’s interior design is that everything is perfectly balanced.
Advanced Features
The car features an on-board AI system dubbed KITT-E that helps form the perfect bond between drivers and the machine. Additionally, an augmented reality digital side glass offers the driver an enhanced vision of each side of the car, which is useful for obstacle-avoidance. Clearly, Jaguar’s effort in putting this racer together is anything but virtual.
