While a torn Achilles robbed Aaron Rodgers and football fans of a chance to witness what promised to be an exciting first season away from the Green Bay Packers, the award-winning quarterback is making the most of his time away from the game.
Rodgers has collaborated with Zenith on a limited edition addition to the Chronomaster Sport collection, with the moniker Chronomaster Sport Aaron Rodgers Edition.
The affinity between athletes and premium watches transcends well beyond timekeeping. More often than not, it's an avenue through which athletes express their style away from their sport. The new watch exemplifies this.
As a Zenith ambassador since 2021, Rodgers, with close to 19 years in the NFL and four MVP titles, has a unique affinity for the color green—the dominant hue for both the Green Bay Packers, his first team, and the New York Jets, his new team. It's against this backdrop that the color is a prominent feature of the new timepiece, intertwining Rodgers' journey with Zenith's Chronomaster Sport collection.
Measuring 41mm in diameter, the case of the timepiece is built on the robust and elegant framework of the steel Chronomaster Sport. The watch's engraved bezel, specially crafted in green ceramic, features a 1/10th of a second scale, emphasizing the importance of slim margins in sport. Affixed to the case is a sleek three-link bracelet complete with a fine-adjustment clasp, blending functionality with style.
Dials and Subdials
The rich green dial, lacquered with a holographic finish, is arguably the standout detail of the watch, fusing the essence of the star quarterback's illustrious career and the aesthetic of the Chronomaster Sport collection. Resembling Jersey numbers, luminescent Arabic numerals are featured on the dial for the first time in the collection.
The dial also features tri-color subdials in shades of anthracite, light grey, and silver. The 60-second counter is positioned at 3 o'clock, the 60-minute counter at 6 o'clock, and the small seconds subdial at 9 o'clock, offering a blend of aesthetic and functional appeal. The same can be said about the date counter that's neatly tucked away between 4 and 5 o'clock.
Enhancing legibility, the luminescent hour and minute hands along with the small seconds hand are accented with black tips, while the seconds hand and the two remaining counters' hands have yellow tips. At 12 o'clock sits Zenth's signature star and inscriptions that refer to the watch's updated caliber.
Speaking of caliber, the new timepiece features Zenith's latest version of the El Primero caliber, a high-frequency movement operating at 5 Hz (36'000 VpH) with a power reserve of 60 hours. In line with the watch's theme, the movement gives the timepiece the ability to measure and display 1/10th of a second, a tribute to those "moments when every fraction of a second can make a difference," in the Swiss company's words. Further paying homage to the celebrated quarterback, the watch's sapphire glass back is emblazoned with the "AR" logo.
Limited to just 250 pieces, the Chronomaster Sport Aaron Rodgers Edition captures the essence of the legendary quarterback's career. It blends it with Zenith's horological legacy, bringing a fresh look to the Chronomaster Sport collection.
