Princess Y72 – The latest designs at a fraction of the cost

Unveiled in October 2021, the Princess Y72 is not only one of the newest yachts from Plymouth-based Princess Yachts but also one of the most exciting ones. Designed with luxury and comfort in mind, the Y72 ports over a ton of features from its much larger siblings, offering a yacht that ships with the company's latest designs and technology at a fraction of the price.

Aft Platform

A stroll through the futuristic Y72 starts at the hydraulic bathing platform. A small but functional space with a raise/lower setting capable of holding/launching a 4m tender and a sea bob.

Main Deck

Accessed via a pair of teak stairs, the Y72's main deck is where you'll probably spend most of your time if you're a sucker for cozy interiors.

Aft, the cockpit is outfitted with a U-shaped sofa that wraps around a foldable table, providing the perfect spot for outdoor dining and socializing. As with most modern yachts, the cockpit fades into the saloon with a stainless steel sliding patio door barely providing a barrier between the two sections.

Designed in collaboration with the Italian design house Pininfarina, the Y72's saloon features extended teak and quartz fittings, a theme consistent with the Plymouth yard's latest offerings. You are welcomed to the saloon by a large dining area and a fully-equipped open galley setup. The galley comes fitted with an oven, fridge/freezer, plenty of storage space, and a neat little island bar.

A much larger U-shaped sofa spans across the entire starboard side, while a smaller, neater sofa provides extra seating portside. Further forward, a two-seater helm station armed with Princess's latest navigation tech takes care of propulsion and navigation. Full-length windows furnish the saloon with ample lighting while providing occupants with a 360-degree view of the sea.

Back outdoors and further forward, the Y72's bow comes fitted with an additional sofa and a massive sunbed.

Lower Deck

The Princess Yacht Y72's lower deck can accommodate eight guests in four different staterooms. Accessible via a spiral staircase from the saloon, the Y72's full-beam master suite resides amidships. It comes complete with a two-seater sofa, a dressing area, storage lockers, a vanity desk, and an ensuite bathroom.

A pair of twin cabins share a bathroom, while a bow-based VIP cabin comes with a considerably large bed and an ensuite bathroom. Full-length hull glazing provides the cabins with ample light, while linen wallcoverings and teak wood finishes give the rooms a feeling of airiness and sophistication. An extra cabin is neatly tucked away in the aft; however, this is primarily for crew members or occasional guests.

Of course, you're most likely to be tempted to buy the Y72 for its Flybridge. As with the larger Y95, Y85, and Y78, the Y72 comes with a very sociable outdoor flybridge setup. It's flexible, too, so customers can choose from several different configurations and finishes.

As is standard, a U-shaped sofa with a coffee table sits starboard while a relatively large sun pad features aft. The boat's auxiliary helm station features port, while a barbecue, bar, and fridge sit just behind it.

Engine and Performace

Powering the Princess Y72 is a pair of MAN V12-1650 engines. These Princess claims are good for a top speed of 34 knots and a cruising speed of 20 knots.

From its sleek, stylish exterior to its luxurious interior, the Princess Y72 is sure to impress even the most discerning of critics. Few boats offer as much space and features in its class, so it comes as an easy to recommend for anyone in the market for a yacht under 80 feet.
