Manhattan 68 - Space for Socializing

Unveiled in 2020 at the boot Düsseldorf show, the Manhattan 68 is a gorgeous flybridge yacht from England-based yacht maker Sunseeker International, offering lots of room for socializing and entertainment while promising an experience only comparable to much larger boats.

A sequel to the Manhattan 66, the 68 stems from a family of award-winning models. The 68 brings the company’s prowess and attention to detail to a segment that is as competitive as they get.

With an overall length of 21.21m and width of 5.26m, the 68 isn’t the most exceptional boat in the company’s ranks, but it prides itself in the spaces and room for entertainment on offer to its occupants; a somewhat stellar achievement at this price point.

Design-wise, the 68 spots an aerodynamic profile that features lines that flow from the bridge bow seating and sunbathing areas to the boat cockpit area, leaving an impression of a finely designed contemporary boat with the DNA of its ancestors deep within it.

Flybridge

Accessed from the cockpit via a steel and wood staircase, the flybridge area is arguably the place you would want to spend most of your time. At the bow, the space comes fitted with a large sunbathing area, while two sunbeds in the stern offer additional slots for, you guessed it, sunbathing.

The center of the flybridge comes fitted with a large L-shaped sofa, a secondary helm station towards the right, and a nice wet bar that comes integrated with storage compartments, a barbecue, and refrigeration.

Main Deck

The cockpit area of the main deck is a great place for sipping drinks or dining, offering a large U-shaped sofa coupled with a folding teal table and a small wet bar tucked away under the staircase.

Separated from the cockpit by a large sliding glass door, the 68’s salon is as spacious as they get in this class and offers a slew of amenities that arguably make it class-leading. The galley is equipped with a fridge freezer, storage compartments, a wine cooler, a sink, and cooking facilities for preparing meals.

The boat’s main helm station neatly fits in the forward starboard corner of the salon. The helm comes configured with a pair of monitors that provide access to the boat’s monitoring, control and navigation systems.

The rest of the area is filled with a couple of spacious seating and dining areas. Together with the large glazing and a carefully chosen cool-color-palette, give the space an incredibly calming aura with a wonderful view of the boat’s surroundings.

Lower Deck

In the standard configuration, the Manhattan 68’s lower deck houses four cabins; the master suite, a VIP suite, and a pair of double cabins. An optional crew cabin is available also. Accessible via a private staircase, the yacht’s master suite in the center of the lower deck is, as you might expect, maxed out with a host of luxuries and amenities to make its occupants as comfortable as possible.

A king-sized bed, breakfast area with seats for two, large flat-screen TV, slew of storage compartments, and a neat ensuite bathroom make the space more than liveable and give many boats in this class a run for their money. The area’s fantastically large headroom, huge side windows, and ambient lighting further add to an already impressive set of features. The VIP suite comes fitted with an ensuite, while those staying in the two double cabins will share a single bathroom.

Engine

While the 68 does focus on the nuances of space, entertainment, and socializing, it also doesn’t leave a lot to be desired in the performance department. Buyers have to choose between a pair of Volvo Penta 1350 engines or twin MAN V8s producing either 1000 or 1200hp. The yacht’s top speed is stated as 32knots, while its impressive 550 nautical miles of range ensures that it offers enough fuel efficiency for those who prefer longer journeys.

While it might not be the company’s top offering, the Manhattan 68 comes fitted with considerable upgrades in both the luxury and performance departments. With its spacious room for socializing, entertainment, and relaxation, The Manhattan 68 can undeniably stake a claim as the perfect boat for a family outing on the sea.
