Originally slated for a release at the canceled 2020 Geneva Motor Show, the GFG Bandini Dora has been unveiled. The car is a fascinating two-seat all-wheel-drive electric prototype from Italian company GFG Style.

The Bandini Dora is the 7th prototype developed by the company that was started by the father-son duo of Giorgetto and Fabrizio Giugiaro in 2015.

Some of the earlier prototypes included the Kangaroo concept car unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show and the Vision 2030 that was revealed at the 2019 Riyadh Motor Show in Saudi Arabia.

Powertrain

The car comes with two electric motors (one on each axel) that combine to produce 536hp (400 Kw) and 500 lb-ft of torque, a blend that ensures that the Barini Dora completes the 0-60mph sprint in a time of 3.3 seconds.

The car’s motors derive their power from a massive 90KW battery that gives the car an estimated range of over 280 miles on a full charge.

Exterior

On the design front, the Bandini Dora comes with a rather clean and unmistakable design as it ditches the roof and opts for a rather unique curvy windshield.

From the sides, it is hard to tell that the car has no roof since it comes fitted with an A-Pillar that stretches from the top of the front wheels to the rear-mounted spoiler. Another outstanding feature of the car’s body is its fully automated scissor doors that would definitely have heads turning.

Speaking about the car’s design and unique windshield, Giugiaro says: “Inspired by the Halo of Formula One, we thought about creating a car that had a clean windshield as it used to be used with no reinforcements, thus being as linear and light as possible”.

He adds: “To solve this need, I thought of an out-and-out superstructure that would integrate into the style with an accentuated structural and protective function for both the driver and passenger.”

Interior

On the inside, you cannot help but notice the central spine that splits the driver and passenger sides (don’t know who needed that). The car’s interior is covered in red and black with the majority of components made from either leather or carbon fiber.

The car comes with a cloche-type steering wheel that is wrapped in leather. The steering wheel houses the touch screen monitor that controls the car’s infotainment system, navigation, and various other functions.

It is worth noting that GFG Style ditched all sorts of buttons and switches in the interior in favor of controls via the touch screen monitor. The car comes fitted with leather and carbon fiber seats that are both height and backrest adjustable.

At this point, it is still unclear whether the Baridin Dora will eventually be turned into a road production model or if it’s just another prototype we’ll never see on the road. However, we do hope that it does make it to the mass production phase as we certainly need cars of such beauty on our roads.
